Is the Spore Creature Creator what is used during gameplay or is it like the Sims 2 bodyshop?

I was wondering if the Spore Creature Creator is what we are going to use to create our species during the main game, or if this is just used to import creatures into the game, but they won't be our species (Like the Sims 2 Bodyshop in a sense). I was wondering because on many youtube videos, there is a Spore Creature Editor which looks different from the Creature Creator.Is the Spore Creature Creator what is used during gameplay or is it like the Sims 2 bodyshop?
From what I've heard, the Spore CC is also bundled with the game. The point of the Creature Creator out right now is to make some extra money and to allow users to create their creatures early and showcase the features of the Creature Phase.Is the Spore Creature Creator what is used during gameplay or is it like the Sims 2 bodyshop?
