How consuming are the default graphics for Spore?

I'm told if you can run Sims 2 you can run Spore with no problem.How consuming are the default graphics for Spore?
Pretty much accurate, though you may need to modify the settings a bit by turning the graphics to "low" if you have any doubts about it running on medium (like laggy framerates etc making the game hard to play)
